Tools to help you Instrument your app (Test Server and Integration Reports)

About to launch your new Facebook Application?

Be sure to test out your instrumentation with us to ensure that all desired message types are recognized and interpreted properly (ref: http://developers.kontagent.com/getting-started/instrumenting-your-application).  From our experience, some tweaking/debugging usually happens as customers become more familiar with the metrics.  It is much better to get the instrumentation straightened out before you need to analyze live user data.

Here are some suggestions you can perform yourselves (during/after instrumenting your app):

1. Make use of the Test Server, by pointing your instrumented app to it for a quick analysis that can help catch some types of problems.  http://developers.kontagent.com/getting-started/verifying-your-instrumentation

2. Set up a test application on our Dashboard and point your instrumented app to it to send some test data so you can see how your data will be analyzed on the Dashboard (e.g. send some invites and perform some viral installs).  Also note that it takes around 2 hours for messages to be processed before showing up on the Dashboard.  There is no way to clear data from the application so when you're ready to launch, register a new app in your Kontagent account and re-point your application API keys to it.

3. Integration Reports is another tool that can be used to analyze data recently sent to the production servers post-launch.  This can be a helpful health check in case instrumentation issues slipped past the initial QA phase.

If you have further question, please refer to our docs at http://developers.kontagent.com and search our Support site at http://support.kontagent.com where you can then get further assistance (i.e. ask a question in the forums, etc.).

Have fun!
